Gloria asked! And I said YES!!!
I'm going to be a bridesmaid, which I'm so excited about because this is the first time I've ever been asked to be a bridesmaid. Just for kicks, I decided to look up the history of bridesmaids and what I found was very interesting:
It became common practice for a bride to surround herself with a group of women who would protect her and make sure she wasn't kidnapped on the way to the altar for her dowry.
I think if this were still the case I'd have to pass on my bridesmaid duties. It's not that I don't love Gloria, its that I don't think Bikram yoga and my once a week intramural soccer will have properly prepared me for hand to hand combat. Plus, I don't think my makeup and hair would hold up in a fight.
Roman law which required 10 witnesses to attend the wedding dressed in similar clothing to that of the bride & groom in order to confuse evil spirits as to the identity of said bride & groom.
And this?! Well, this just scares me. I look nothing like Gloria, but if attire is all that's needed to confuse the evil spirits and there are only six of us, I'm not liking those odds. I'd have to pass on this one too. Also, I don't think a panicked look of fear is a good expression for wedding portraits.
Thankfully times have changed and I'll only be required to show up, get my hair and makeup done, wear a pretty dress, and take pictures.... oh and help plan the bachelorette party and bridal shower, which in contrast to the threat of losing my life in a knife fight, suddenly seems like a walk in the park.
Here is the very cute way she asked me to join her on the journey to one of the most important moments of her life... with TOMS! And I love them! TOMS is such an incredible organization that operates under a simple mission. "One for One". With every pair of shoes purchased, TOMS will give a new pair of shoes to a child in need. You can learn more about the the TOMS movement here.
This is so her too. She's such a wonderfully altruistic person. I will "walk" with you anywhere Glo! Thank you for being you!
Gloria asked! And I said YES!!!
I was reading an article recently about relationships and one line really resonated with me:
"Laughter is essential to your individual happiness and the key to happiness in your relationship."
That's interesting right? Not money. Not power. Not having the perfect house, or the perfect car. But Laughter. That is the key. Such a simple and beautiful concept.
When I first met Christina and Avedis (Avo for short), "Laughter" is the first thing I noticed about them and when I left them at the end of a very long and tiring day, it was the last thing I noticed. They truly enjoyed laughing together. So, if laughter is essential to a happy relationship, I think they've got that covered. And if I could add another essential ingredient to a happy life, I would add family and friends. The world can be a tough place to navigate at times and during those times your family and friends will be your GPS. They may be confusing and at times frustrating, but they will always help you get to where you need to go.
Christina and Avo, I had the pleasure of spending the day with your family and friends and was overjoyed by how wonderful everyone was. You both are so blessed to have people who love you, support you, and wish you only the very best as you embark on this beautiful journey together. Combine that with your love for each other and the laughter you share and I believe you've got a recipe for a very happy marriage.
I hope you enjoy the photos from this amazing celebration of Christina and Avo. I know I certainly enjoyed taking them.
*****I know this wasn't a wedding but these Badgley Mischka shoes were sooooooooooo hot! I just had to give them a lil shout out. ;)
But don't take my word for it. Just look at Christina and Avo.
End of the night... Still smiling. That's love!!
